Roots Invitational I

The Roots Invitational in Innsbruck: A Landmark Grappling Event

Set against the picturesque snowy mountains, Innsbruck was the proud stage for the premiere Roots Invitational I. This wasn’t just an addition to the sports calendar; it marked the launch of an unparalleled grappling event in the state of Tyrol. The significance of its Innsbruck setting was magnified as it drew eager participants and spectators not only from neighboring countries like Italy, Switzerland, and Germany but also from within Austria, including a strong contingent from the states of Carinthia, Salzburg and Vienna.

Participants from diverse regions converged in Innsbruck to demonstrate their grappling prowess. The charged atmosphere was palpable, with participants and spectators actively interacting and sharing their passion for the sport.

The event's success can be attributed to the meticulous planning and execution by the Roots Collective team and @Mojitsu_. Their commitment ensured a seamless blend of competitive spirit and camaraderie throughout the event.

The day kicked off with a grappling tournament that followed the Grappling Industries ruleset. Distinctively, it adopted a round-robin format, ensuring multiple matches for competitors, setting it apart from standard tournaments. With top-notch refereeing, the event further elevated its stature by awarding winners with exclusive Roots Invitational branded medals.

The highlight for many, however, was the “superfights” segment. Adhering to the EBI (Eddie Bravo Invitational) submission-only ruleset, these bouts promised – and delivered – non-stop action, ensuring a thrilling spectacle filled with submissions and dynamic maneuvers that kept the audience on the edge of their seats.

A hearty thank you to all contributors – from competitors to the meticulous organizing team, and the fervent fans. The Roots Invitational was more than an event; it was a celebration of grappling, setting high expectations for its future editions.
